And now, a word from one of our members..

“Ok, so Natalia asked me and Desiree to write this article…actually it has turned into threats! LOL! She wanted us to tell our story of how we became such good friends. I decided to give you my version of my Crossfit story and forgive me if it sounds like I am “standing on my soap box” but here it goes.

My husband (Angel) and I started at Fever back in May of 2010. Like most of us, we wanted to get “in shape” and because of our A.D.D. we were bored and never committed to the average gym. Crossfit fit us perfectly! Never did I imagine that FEVER would affect my life so much. What I mean by this is simple, it has become my hobby. As a mom, wife, and working full time, there is not much room for anything else. Crossfit has become my outlet…my time for me. Especially as a mom, you tend to lose your identity as an individual and life revolves around your family. Without sounding selfish, my time at Crossfit, even if my husband and kids are there, is still about taking care of ME! An added bonus to this is all the wonderful people we have met. Almost one year ago, I met my friend Desiree for the first time at Fever. She is a firefighter/Lieutenant and single mother. She has worked with my husband over the course of their careers with Miami-Dade. We hit it off immediately and like everyone else at the gym began competing for time!!! She pushed me to want to come more often so I could kick her butt (although she usually kicks mine). We have struggled with injuries, dieting, broken egos, and much, much more. Our friendship continued to grow and we have become very close, spending birthdays, holidays, etc., together (often including alcohol, Paleo approved of course). Her daughter Taylor, 10, (also a fellow Crossfitter), is very special to me and plays great with my 2 kids (Jorge, 5, and Madison, 3, aka “Candela”).

Why does all this matter and what am I trying to get across??? Crossfit has become a way of life for my family and most importantly FEVER has become part of that family. We tell all our friends about Crossfit (ex. Steve H., Michelle and Josh, Chris M, and Eli M.), by the way Natalia, still waiting for some credit for them $$$! To all the FNG’s I hope that you can get out of Crossfit Fever everything you want and more…I sure did!
